The Opportunity

A leading UK law firm is seeking a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join its established clinical negligence team in Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value clinical negligence matters for defendant clients, including claims connected to NHS-related work.

You will be part of a collaborative and specialist team advising on sensitive, technically demanding cases, with scope to gain experience in related advisory and inquest work.

The Team

The clinical negligence team operates nationally, supporting public and private sector clients on a wide range of defendant clinical negligence matters. The team is known for delivering clear, pragmatic advice and for providing strong training and supervision to lawyers at all levels.

The Role

Depending on experience, you will manage your own caseload and/or support senior colleagues on higher-value matters. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling clinical negligence claims from instruction through to resolution
  • Advising clients on case strategy, risk and proportionality
  • Supporting work on complex and high-value claims in line with client requirements
  • Delegating and supervising tasks to junior team members where appropriate
  • Conducting legal research and advising on developments in case law and legislation
  • Providing flexible client support, including remote and on-site assistance where required
  • Assisting with client training, seminars and business development initiatives

About You

  • Qualified solicitor with 0–4 years’ PQE
  • Experience in clinical negligence (defendant or claimant) or serious personal injury
  • Strong organisational and case management skills
  • Confident communicator with a practical and client-focused approach
  • Able to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Experience of inquests or clinical advisory work is advantageous but not essential
