Sacco Mann is working alongside a prominent plc in the Construction & Homebuilding sector. They have an established team but now seek to appoint a permanent Construction Counsel into a brand new position, which is offered on a hybrid basis, but can be worked out of their offices across the north of England including Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, York.
This role can be offered on a full or part-time basis.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and talented Construction Solicitor to provide legal support to the commercial function within the construction division. Project capabilities cover the entire range of construction activities, from special works and repair and maintenance, to major landmark schemes delivered as standalone projects or as part of larger multiple project frameworks.

Under the support and direction of the Senior Legal Team, this person can expect a varied caseload and extremely good quality work. Responsibilities will include reviewing and negotiating Building Contracts/ Framework Agreements and ancillary documentation(sub-contracts, consultant appointments, novation's, collateral warranties, confidentiality agreements, vesting etc), provision of legal and strategic advice to the Commercial function on tender submissions and live projects and support in relation to contentious construction matters including a working knowledge of different dispute resolution procedures: adjudication, mediation, litigation and arbitration as well as pre-action support including instructing and managing experts
The Person
You’ll be a qualified solicitor with a decent grounding in Construction law experience within a reputable private practice firm or in-house team - Sector experience including knowledge of construction/ engineering projects from a legal perspective and good knowledge of key standard form contracts (JCT and/or NEC) would be necessary - Experience of contentious construction/ claims/ insurance experience would be useful, as would exposure to risk and compliance, GDPR, IT/SAAS contracts and other wider legal experience.
