We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Defendant Catastrophic Injury Solicitor to join a highly respected Police & Emergency Services team within the Manchester office of an international firm.
As a Defendant Catastrophic Injury Solicitor, you will:
Become a part of a specialist team known for its expertise in defending civil actions and handling complex, high-profile cases. This is your chance to work on a diverse and compelling caseload, including:
- Civil actions involving assault, false imprisonment, serious injury, data protection issues, Equality Act matters and human rights claims.
- High-value and sensitive litigation, including cases arising from terrorism incidents, deaths in police custody and catastrophic injuries.
- Catastrophic injury and large loss claims for major insurers and corporate clients.
- A significant group litigation matter and work connected to a major public inquiry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and assist with pre-litigated and litigated civil actions against the police on behalf of police forces and insurers.
- Run your own fast-track and multi-track files while supporting senior lawyers on complex, high-value matters.
- Prepare liability strategies, client reports, witness statements and instructions to counsel/experts.
- Attend conferences, trials, negotiations and a range of ADR processes.
- Contribute to client development, training sessions and networking initiatives.
What we are looking for:
- Experience handling claims against the police and/or large loss EL/PL work, with a focus on liability.
- Background within a defendant police/public authority or large loss team.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work efficiently under pressure.
- Professional communication skills and confidence building relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Strong academic record and a commitment to ongoing development.
