Employment Legal Director

We are seeking a highly experienced Employment Solicitor to join a leading UK employment law practice based in Leeds, ideally at Legal Director level. This firm’s high-profile work, strong market reputation, and substantial growth make this a compelling opportunity for experienced employment lawyers looking to develop their career within this exciting and stimulating environment, which also cares about providing a platform that is conducive to long term sustainable well-being.

The Leeds office exemplifies the firm’s strategic investment in northern expansion, offering a platform for substantial professional development and high-visibility mandates. Joining this practice provides an excellent career trajectory for lawyers eager to shape a thriving regional practice within a stable and dynamic national platform.

Responsibilities

  • Help to further develop their employment law practice in the Leeds region and beyond, managing a portfolio of high-profile litigation and advisory work.
  • Attract and retain new clients, building a regional network and expanding the firm’s market share.
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and support staff to foster professional growth within the team.
  • Deliver high-quality legal advice across the full spectrum of employment law.
  • Engage in business development activities and promote the firm’s employment expertise regionally and nationally.

Requirements

  • Senior Associate or Legal Director level experience in employment law from a well-regarded firm.
  • Strong track record in high-value (and sometimes high profile) employment law work, and client relationship management.
  • Excellent communication and business development skills.
  • Ambition to shape and lead a substantive employment law practice in the Leeds area.

Benefits and Culture

  • Be part of an award-winning team with market-leading rankings in Chambers and Legal 500.
  • Play a key role in the firm’s northern expansion, offering greater autonomy and leadership opportunities than London-centric roles.
  • Enjoy a financially stable and growing firm with significant investment in headcount, business development, and resources.
  • Work within a collaborative and progressive culture that values talent and client excellence.
  • Benefit from a national platform with international client links, supporting flexible and large-scale legal work.
  • Remuneration is flexible and depends very much on the individual; there is considerable opportunity to impact this via performance and opportunities for progression to Partnership are very much there, if that is important to you.
