The Opportunity

A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Professional Support Lawyer to join its Birmingham-based Employment team.

This role is ideal for a senior employment lawyer from an international or large regional firm who is looking to transition into a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) position. You’ll play a central role in supporting a busy, high-performing employment practice, working closely with partners and fee earners to ensure technical excellence, consistency, and innovation across the team.

The position offers a strategic, intellectually engaging alternative to fee earning, with exposure to cutting-edge employment law developments and high-profile clients across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a technical resource for the Employment team, providing guidance on complex and novel employment law issues.
  • Monitoring legal developments and ensuring timely dissemination of updates, briefings, and know-how.
  • Developing and maintaining precedents, templates, and practice notes.
  • Supporting training initiatives, including internal CPD, inductions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Assisting with client-facing publications, thought leadership, and legal updates.
  • Collaborating with PSLs and knowledge teams across offices to promote best practice and consistency.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor with 8+ years’ PQE in employment law.
  • Strong technical expertise gained within an international or large regional firm.
  • Clear interest in moving into a PSL / knowledge-focused role.
  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Confident communicator who enjoys supporting and mentoring colleagues.
  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
