The Role

A leading West Midlands firm is looking to appoint a senior employment lawyer into its Birmingham office. This is a pivotal hire within a small, well-regarded team, offering both high-quality work and a clear progression route. With succession planning in mind, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on leadership of the team within the next five years.

The practice advises a broad mix of employer clients, from major corporates to owner-managed and family businesses, and is involved in both standalone employment work and corporate support.

What you’ll be doing

  • Advising employers on the full spectrum of contentious and non-contentious employment issues.

  • Handling matters such as contracts, policies, dismissals, grievances, discrimination claims and TUPE.

  • Providing support to the corporate team on employment aspects of mergers, acquisitions and restructurings.

  • Managing your own caseload while helping to supervise and mentor junior colleagues.

  • Building and developing long-term client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.

About you

  • Senior employment lawyer with strong experience advising employer clients.

  • Confident handling both tribunal litigation and advisory work.

  • Skilled at providing pragmatic, commercial solutions to clients.

  • Leadership potential, with the ambition to play a central role in the future of the team.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to foster trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
