The Opportunity

A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor to join its highly regarded Birmingham-based Employment team.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a top-ranked national practice advising commercial and education-sector clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. You’ll be involved in both advisory work and employment disputes, as well as delivering client training and contributing to thought leadership initiatives.

You will join a collaborative, cross-office team that places strong emphasis on technical excellence, client relationships, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising employers on complex employment law issues across advisory and contentious matters.
  • Managing Employment Tribunal work, including Preliminary Hearings.
  • Supporting commercial and education-sector clients on projects, restructures, and day-to-day HR matters.
  • Delivering client training, seminars, and legal updates.
  • Contributing to business development and strengthening long-term client relationships.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers within the team.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor with 4+ years’ PQE in employment law, gained in private practice.
  • Strong technical expertise and ability to deliver commercially focused advice.
  • Confident communicator with experience delivering client training and presentations.
  • Proactive, well-organised, and comfortable managing complex matters independently.
  • Commercially minded and enthusiastic about business development.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys contributing to a national practice
