The Role

This senior employment manager position offers the opportunity to lead a high-performing Employment team, specialising in contentious matters. You’ll oversee the allocation and conduct of cases, ensuring risk is managed effectively and best practice is followed across the team.

Alongside handling complex and sensitive disputes, you’ll support and mentor junior colleagues, manage client relationships, and contribute to the wider strategic direction of the department. The role also involves representing the team in business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the team to meet performance, service and financial targets.
  • Drive operational excellence, ensuring deadlines and SLA commitments are met.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships as a key point of contact for service quality.
  • Represent the team in business development and external marketing initiatives.
  • Plan and oversee CPD and mentoring to support team progression.
  • Independently manage complex, high-value or sensitive disputes.

About you

The ideal candidate will be confident, technically strong, and committed to delivering exceptional service. You will have:

  • Ideally 8+ years PQE in employment law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels.
  • A strong sense of client care and the desire to achieve the best outcomes.
  • The ability to manage your own caseload, prioritise effectively, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
