Impressive intellectual property law firm with several offices across the UK and Europe has instructed Sacco Mann on a superb opportunity for an Engineering Patent Attorney to join the firm's friendly and collaborative Patent function based in Bristol.
Sought is a talented Engineering Patent Attorney to complement a truly collegiate group in their Bristol office. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a wide range of pioneering clients whilst being part of a cooperative, forward-thinking team.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in helping a mix of stellar clients secure and defend their IP rights. Working across complex and cutting-edge technologies relating to aerospace, automotive, medical devices and more, you will:
- Draft patent specifications and respond to office actions, confident working autonomously and as part of the wider team
- Advise clients on IP strategy and optimum IP protection
- Support and attend Oral Proceedings
- Manage client portfolios, building and maintaining new and existing client relationships
- Analyse prior art and prepare arguments to overcome patent office objections
- Enjoy mentoring and supervising junior Attorneys
- Contribute to business development efforts across the firm
Skills You Need
If you’re currently exploring the Bristol market, here’s an overview of the skillset required:
- Dual-qualified UK and European Patent Attorney, ideally with 1-2 years PQE
- Mechanical Engineering academic background
- Experienced in drafting, prosecution, and confidently managing client portfolios
- Skilled in building client relationships and utilising strong commercial acumen
- Expert communication skills, able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, both written and verbal
- Experience in preparing freedom to operate opinions would be advantageous
