Sacco Mann Recruitment is proud to be working with a highly respected and high-profile Yorkshire law firm seeking an experienced Employment Head of Department to lead their nationally recognised Employment team.

This is a unique opportunity to head up a well-established department within a firm known for its strength in Employment and Sports Law, acting for major organisations and high-profile clients across England.


The Role

  • Leading and developing the Employment Law team
  • Managing a broad caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Advising businesses and private individuals on day-to-day employment issues
  • Representing clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings
  • Providing strategic and commercially driven employment advice
  • Supporting corporate transactions, including TUPE matters
  • Delivering HR support and workplace mediation services
  • Conducting independent investigations
  • Drafting and advising on:
  • Settlement Agreements
  • Director’s Service Agreements
  • Employment contracts, policies, and handbooks
  • Restrictive covenants
  • Delivering training and seminars to clients
  • Contributing to marketing and business development initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and supervising a diverse employment caseload independently
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and tribunal documentation
  • Negotiating employment settlements for both employers and employees
  • Advising on risk management and commercial implications of employment issues
  • Maintaining and developing strong client relationships
  • Generating new business and contributing to the firm’s continued growth
  • Ensuring high standards of client care and professional ethics
  • Representing clients confidently in tribunal and negotiation settings
  • Meeting deadlines and managing targets effectively

About You

The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, proactive, and ready to lead. You will have:

  • Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years’ PQE in Employment Law
  • Broad experience across contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Strong Employment Tribunal experience
  • Proven experience drafting contracts, policies, and employment documentation
  • Experience negotiating complex employment settlements
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to assess and advise on risk
  • Excellent case management and organisational skills
  • Confidence to work independently and lead a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail when managing complex matters
  • A proactive, client-focused approach
  • Ability and desire to contribute to marketing and business development
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards
