Sacco Mann is currently recruiting for a Part-qualified Biotechnology Patent Attorney position based in Oxford within a leading Patent & Trade Mark firm. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in biotechnology, molecular biology, or related sciences to develop their career in patent law.
The successful Part-qualified Biotechnology Patent Attorney candidate will be involved in a varied caseload from day 1, working closely with both Oxford based and internationally reaching clients in the biotech space from start-ups and SMEs to international agency work. Your responsibilities will include drafting and prosecuting patent applications, contributing to IP strategy development, and advising clients on an array of interesting patent matters. The role is client-facing, so excellent communication and organisational skills are essential. Located in Oxford, and offering hybrid working 3 days on site, the position offers the chance to expand your professional network and gain invaluable experience in a collaborative, innovative environment, working closely with experienced Partners in the Biotechnology and Life Sciences space.
You will have:
- Strong academic background, ideally with a PhD in Biotechnology or, advantageously, in Molecular Biology
- Completed the Foundation exams or PG Certificate in Intellectual Property Law
- 1-2 years of professional experience within the Biotechnology and/or Life Sciences sector
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines effectively
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commercial mindset
- Genuine interest in innovation and staying current with industry developments
- Ability to think analytically and understand the broader commercial context
- Team-oriented attitude with coachability and resilience
