Sacco Mann are working on an exceptional opportunity to join a top-tier national team, specialising in civil claims against the police and other public authorities, including false imprisonment, breaches of the Human Rights act, misuse of private information, and related misconduct issues.

You’ll join a highly respected and expanding practice where the work is genuinely meaningful, supporting a diverse client base on legally and ethically complex cases, many of which carry high public interest.

As a Police Misconduct Solicitor, you will be:

  • Running your own caseload of litigated and pre-litigated civil claims against public bodies.
  • Drafting advice and court documents with a sharp eye for both legal nuance and sensitive client care.
  • Attending trials and conferences with counsel.
  • Proofing witnesses and managing disclosure, including confidential or sensitive documentation.
  • Supporting wider team activity in inquests, abuse, discrimination, and misfeasance work.
  • Engaging in business development and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Staying up to date on public law, civil liberties, and police conduct legislation.

What we are looking for:

  • 1–10 years’ PQE as a solicitor (or equivalent experience in public authority or police claims work).
  • Experience handling civil claims against police or other public bodies.
  • Solid understanding of false imprisonment, HRA breaches, and PACE.
  • Excellent litigation and drafting skills.
  • A strong team player who can also work independently.
  • Empathy, integrity, and professionalism when dealing with sensitive matters.
  • A genuine interest in public interest work and the wider areas of abuse, misfeasance, inquests, and human rights law.

Why join the team?

  • Work on high-profile and high-impact cases involving real people and real change.
  • Join a collaborative and nationally recognised team with an excellent reputation in the field.
  • Exposure to a broad client base including local authorities, police forces, care providers, educational institutions, and insurers.
  • Career development supported by specialist training and mentorship from leaders in the field.
  • Flexible working arrangements to support your work-life balance, including the role being fully remote.
  • A structured pathway for progression within a large, inclusive, and forward-thinking firm.
