Newcastle | 6+ PQE | Hybrid Working
We’re looking for an experienced Social Housing Property Solicitor to join a collaborative, cross-office property team based in Newcastle. This is a senior opportunity for a property lawyer who wants to play a meaningful role in the continued growth of a well-established, national social housing team.
You’ll work closely with Partners and colleagues across the firm, handling high-quality, complex matters within a supportive and high-performing team that values collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and long-term development.
The Role
You’ll take a lead role in managing your own caseload while supporting Partners on a broad range of social housing and development transactions, including:
- Drafting and negotiating key documentation such as Conditional Contracts, Development Agreements, Option Agreements, Transfers and Leases
- Land and property acquisitions and development projects
- Site assembly and disposals, including complex and multi-tenure schemes
- Estate set-ups for shared ownership and market sale developments
- Golden brick, turnkey, and package deals, including S106 acquisitions
- Advising on grant funding implications and Capital Funding Guide requirements
- Securitisation and affordable housing products
Beyond the Transactional Work
As a senior member of the team, you’ll also:
- Supervise and delegate work to solicitors, trainees, and paralegals
- Support Partners in mentoring and developing junior fee earners
- Maintain and enhance precedent documents to drive efficiency and consistency
- Stay up to date with legal developments and undertake ongoing CPD
- Contribute to business development and build strong, long-term client relationships
- Support initiatives that raise the external profile of the wider team
About You
You’ll be a confident, organised, and proactive solicitor with:
- 6+ years’ PQE in property and development work
- Experience leading and coordinating large-scale property projects
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines with confidence
- A genuine commitment to excellent client service and relationship-building
- Confidence working with clients, lenders, and external stakeholders
- An interest in supervision, mentoring, and people development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A methodical, detail-focused, and efficient approach to work
- A collaborative mindset with flexibility and adaptability
- Willingness to attend client meetings in the office and on-site when required
