Residential Conveyancing Solicitor | York or Malton | Technical, hands-on Conveyancing role
We are recruiting for an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor to join a thriving and expanding Residential Property team, based in either the firm’s York or Malton offices. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven legal professional who enjoys handling a diverse caseload. The role offers a balance of hands-on technical conveyancing work, with a strong emphasis on client experience.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of residential property matters from initial instruction through to post-completion, ensuring transactions are progressed efficiently and clients are kept fully informed throughout. The caseload will include freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, re-mortgages, transfers of equity, new-build and shared ownership transactions, as well as both registered and unregistered titles.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking detailed initial instructions and providing clear costs information
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, reports on title and associated documentation
- Investigating title, raising, and responding to enquiries
- Reviewing searches and advising clients on their implications
- Managing exchange and completion processes
- Preparing SDLT/LTT returns and Land Registry applications
- Ensuring timely registration and dealing promptly with requisitions
About You
- Ideally 2–5 years’ PQE (or equivalent hands-on experience in residential conveyancing)
- Strong technical expertise across a broad range of residential property matters
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently while maintaining quality and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a genuine client-focused approach
- Proficient in using case management systems, Land Registry and HMRC online portals, with strong overall IT capability
