The Opportunity
A well-regarded regional law firm is seeking an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor (6+ PQE) to join its Dispute Resolution team in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role within a busy and growing practice, handling a broad range of inheritance and trust disputes. The position offers a strong platform for progression, autonomy over your own caseload, and the support of an experienced, collaborative team.
You’ll work on high-quality matters including contested wills, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, executor disputes, and proprietary estoppel claims, acting for a diverse mix of clients and intermediaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of contentious probate and trust disputes from instruction to resolution.
- Advise clients on complex estate and trust matters, delivering clear, practical, and commercially focused guidance.
- Draft pleadings, witness statements, and settlement documents.
- Conduct negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings as required.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior team members.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, including with referrers and intermediaries.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and departmental growth.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Solicitor with at least 6 years’ PQE in contentious probate or related litigation.
- Strong technical knowledge of inheritance, trust, and estate disputes.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex cases independently and efficiently.
- Commercially aware, client-focused, and proactive in problem solving.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
