Defendant EL/PL Solicitor | NQ-2 | Preston | Hybrid Working |

A highly regarded law firm with a national reach is seeking a Solicitor to join their specialist casualty team in Preston, dealing with public liability claims arising from housing litigation matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to further develop their litigation experience within a collaborative and supportive environment.

As a Defendant EL/PL Solicitor, you will:

  • Manage and progress your own varied caseload of defendant matters for clients including Registered Providers and Local Authorities nationwide.
  • Draft legal documents, undertake research, and assess financial liability.
  • Conduct advocacy and attend court hearings.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to clients.
  • Negotiate, mediate, or litigate to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Meet KPIs relating to time recording, profitability, and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues on complex matters.
  • Maintain excellent communication and client care.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, SRA requirements, and procedural deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date with legal developments and complete CPD.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and contribute to team growth.

About you:

  • A qualified Solicitor with NQ-2 years’ PQE.
  • Experience handling casualty/housing litigation claims for defendants.
  • Confident conducting your own advocacy.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and generate fees in line with targets.
  • Proficient with legal case management systems.
  • Excellent drafting, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Team-focused mindset.
  • Strong IT skills across Word, Excel, Outlook and case management platforms.
