Regulatory Barrister - Leeds

The Role

As a regulatory barrister you will be responsible for presenting cases at final substantive hearings, as well as representing regulators at interim applications and case management hearings. The work is diverse and rewarding, ranging from cases involving dishonesty and fraud through to sexual misconduct and serious professional failings.

There will also be opportunities to influence case direction from the earliest stages of investigation and preparation, including reviewing evidence, drafting allegations, preparing opening notes, and providing written submissions on complex legal issues. For the right candidate, there may also be opportunities to appear in the High Court and First Tier Tribunal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Presenting regulatory cases at final hearings, interim applications, and case management hearings.
  • Working with expert and vulnerable witnesses to ensure evidence is presented effectively.
  • Drafting allegations, case summaries, skeleton arguments, and written advice.
  • Contributing to advisory and improvement projects for clients.

About you

  • A Barrister with strong advocacy experience.
  • Confident and persuasive in final hearings, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive cases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal and evidential issues clearly.
  • Organised, detail-focused, and proactive in managing caseloads.
